With over 25 years of experience in the mental health field, I bring a deep understanding of the challenges both clients and therapists face in the counseling process. As the founder of Greenway Counseling & Wellness, my focus is on creating a supportive and professional environment where therapists can thrive and clients can receive high-quality care focused on their needs.
Laura Taylor, MS, LCMHCS
“I’ve been in the mental health field for over 25 years, and while I no longer see clients myself, I stay deeply involved by supporting both the therapists in our practice and the people who come to us for help. As the founder of Greenway Counseling & Wellness, my focus is on creating a space where both clients and therapists feel supported, understood, and able to grow.
There are many great therapy practices out there, and I believe the best fit comes down to finding a place that aligns with your values. For me, that means fostering a practice that is down-to-earth, compassionate, and realistic about what it means to be human. Therapy should feel like a conversation with someone who genuinely cares, not a cold, clinical process. I want people to feel comfortable here, whether they’re seeking therapy or considering joining our team.
One of the most rewarding parts of my work now is mentoring and providing clinical supervision to associate-level therapists. I love helping them build confidence, develop their skills, and find their own voice in this field. Private practice is hard work, and it can feel overwhelming at times—I want our team to know they always have support, both professionally and personally.
I didn’t build this practice alone—we have a wonderful group of staff who care deeply about our team of therapists and the clients we serve. Our administrative staff plays a crucial role in making this practice what it is, and without them, none of this would be possible. We all put tremendous effort and care into the work that we do, and we want to work with therapists—both current and potential—who appreciate and respect that.
Outside of work, I love watching movies—Suspense, Comedies, Dramas, you name it. Animals are also a huge part of my life—I honestly can’t imagine being without them. My husband and I have one cat, Sophie (*her sister, Chloe, recently passed away). Over the years, I’ve had so many special dogs and cats, and those memories will always stay with me. I also love spending time with friends and family—whether it’s catching up over a meal, sharing laughs, or just enjoying each other’s company.
If you’re looking for support, we have an incredible team of therapists here at Greenway Counseling & Wellness, and I’d love for you to learn more about them. If you’re a therapist looking for a place that values connection, growth, and authenticity, let’s connect!”
I earned my Bachelor of Science in Human Development and Family Studies (Early Childhood Development) from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, followed by my Master of Science in Community Counseling from the same university. Over the years, I’ve worked in both community non-profits and private practice as a therapist, gaining experience in a variety of settings.
I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC #4739) and a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Supervisor (LCMHCS S4739). I have also completed Level 2 training in EMDR through EMDRIA. While I was certified in EMDR from 2020 until 2024, I ultimately chose not to renew my certification, as it wasn’t necessary for my current role.
