Finding mental health support can feel overwhelming, especially when navigating insurance, cost concerns, or available resources in your area. This page provides information about additional counseling options, support groups, crisis resources, Employee Assistance Programs (EAPs), community agencies, and other mental health services that may be available throughout North Carolina and the Triad region

These resources may be especially helpful for individuals who have lost insurance coverage, are unable to afford counseling costs, are waiting for services, or need immediate support during a crisis.

Crisis & Emergency Resources

    • The 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline provides free, confidential support 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for people experiencing:

      • Suicidal thoughts

      • Emotional distress

      • Mental health crises

      • Substance use crises

      • Concerns about a loved one who may be struggling

  • Mobile Crisis

    • Mobile Crisis teams provide community-based crisis intervention for individuals experiencing a mental health crisis. Depending on your location and situation, a crisis professional may be able to speak with you by phone, meet with you in the community, or help coordinate additional services.

Low-Cost & No-Cost Counseling Options

  • Open Path Collective Access online or in-person therapy with a vetted therapist for only $40-70 per session, plus a one-time membership fee.

  • University training clinics

  • Intern/practicum programs

    • Group practices occasionally host counseling interns. Interns receive clinical supervision from their university counseling program and also their site for providing services. *Greenway has hosted 4 interns since 2020; currently we do not have an intern, however, if/when this changes in the future, intern info can be found on our “Meet Our Team” page

  • Community agencies

  • EAP/Employee Assistance Programs An Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is an employer-sponsored benefit that may provide short-term counseling services at no cost to eligible employees and family members.

    • How do I find out if I have an EAP?
      Check with your employer's Human Resources department or benefits administrator to see whether EAP services are included in your benefits package.

NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness)

NAMI provides free educational resources, support groups, and programs for individuals living with mental health conditions and their family members.
